ABOUT SALLAL WATER - BEFORE/AFTER

The Sallal Water Association originated from a grassroots effort in 1967 due to concerns about water availability in shallow wells during the summer. With a loan secured in 1969, construction began to establish a water supply from the City of Seattle. Initially a wholesale customer of Seattle Public Utilities, Sallal transitioned to groundwater in 1986 through the drilling of deep wells. The association, a non-profit consumer-owned corporation, is governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees, with monthly meetings open to members. A Water Distribution Manager oversees day-to-day operations, while professional engineers provide consulting services. The annual meeting encourages member participation and provides updates on the association's activities.
